Week 1: Earth Month Kickoff & the History of Earth Day

Monday, March 29 – Sunday, April 4

Giveaway:

Look out for an announcement about our Earth Month campaign giveaway: win zero waste stickers and a Zero Waste and Sustainability Club merch t-shirt made from recycled garments and produced by .blacktogrey.

Instagram Takeover:

Activist Mariah Padilla will be taking over the ZWS Club’s Instagram to talk about her environmental justice journey, intersectional environmentalism, and privilege in outdoor spaces.

 

Week 2: Vices & Virtues Plastics Challenge

Monday, April 5 – Sunday, April 11


Challenge:

Join us in tracking your plastic waste for one week, while also making note of every time you say no to single-use plastic by using a reusable alternative. Our Davis Recycling Guide may help you in determining which of your plastic waste is recyclable and what belongs in the landfill.

Week 3: Climate Story Art Challenge

Monday, April 12 – Sunday, April 18

Challenge:

Get creative with us in telling your individual climate story through art. We all have different passions when it comes to sustainability, and expressing our journey to becoming environmentally conscious is a great way to reflect on what drives us – and on what’s at stake. Draw a picture, make a collage, write a poem, or utilize any other desired art form to create an art piece that narrates your personal climate story.

Giveaway:

Climate Story art submissions via this Google Form will count as an extra entry towards our giveaway!

 

Week 4: Earth Day Meeting

Monday, April 19 – Sunday, April 25

Challenge:

Submissions from the Vices & Virtues Plastic Challenge and the Climate Story Art Challenge will be featured on the Zero Waste and Sustainability Club Instagram.

General Meeting:

Celebrate Earth Day with the ZWS Club at our General Meeting, where giveaway winners will be announced!

 

Week 5: Earth Month Wrap Up Social with The Climate Reality Project at UC Davis

Monday, April 26 – Friday, April 30

General Meeting:

To wrap up Earth Month, we will be hosting a social in collaboration with The Climate Reality Project to reflect on Earth Day 2021 and talk about the most pressing climate issues affecting our world today.
